César Bardoux

César Bardoux (1991) is a French painter who lives and works in Aubervilliers. His work has been exhibited at the Collection Lambert (Avignon, FR), in different Parisian galleries in Germany and also in Kuwait.

Since the beginning of his career, the artist, who was a student of Tim Eitel at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, has materialised on canvas or paper watery forms which seem to be in a transitional state. In a dialectic between transparency and opacity, he portrays mineral fragments using mainly oil painting and graphite.

The sensual and often translucent image that takes shape is first designed with sophisticated software. The paradox of painting in a hyperrealistic way a digital image is key in the artistic practice of César Bardoux. He crystallises on the canvas current societal dynamics, such as the alienation of man by the machine.

He aims to investigate the matrix of the image. As an answer to the extreme saturation of images in our contemporary world, the artist creates hybrid and mutant forms which seem to live in a peaceful structural order. They could be perceived as chimeras of a utopian mineral world…
